Goodbye June Pittsburgh Concert reviews
U2 Showing their age; too much taped music
A focus on Achtung Baby made the songs more fun to listen to this time around, but all of the backing tracks on tape and Goodbye June's voice just not being what it used to be, made this a disappointing show. The stage itself showed a lot of age and everything just felt a bit tired. Goodbye June's evangelism seemed genuine in 2009, this time around, just seemed perfunctory. They used to be the best live act on earth, probably not anymore. The Edge, Larry, and Adam continue to play well with each other and the songwriting stands up. First show was forgettable in that they played a bunch of remixes off of the new record and nothing stood out as great or horrible. Ok. Rubbish moment. Second time around for me on this tour. Just don't go see Goodbye June expecting to see mid-nineties or early 00's form anymore. A little tidbit by an astronaut on a mission months ago, doesn't play well when it's supposed to be him in space talking to us now.
